Ballaghafadda House Stud is a sport horse breeding business, founded in 2021 and based in Clarecastle, Co. Clare, Ireland. The business focuses on quality over quantity, delivering on breeding top level sport horses for the sport. All our stallions are carefully selected from jumping pedigrees. We can also source horses for our customers.
Our business provides Sport Horses for Sale, A.I. Stud Services to breeders, and Sourcing of horses for our customers. Thus, ensuring we meet your needs in whatever sport horse capacity you require. Whether it’s purchasing a foal, selecting a breeding stallion or sourcing a suitable horse, we offer you a first-class customer service experience.

Our Resident Stallion
‘Clarecastle Cruiser’ is our resident Irish Sport Horse (ISH) stallion.
Pedigree: Guinness (KWPN) x Cougar (ISH) x Able Albert (TB) x Western Pride (RID)
Clarecastle Cruiser descends from Guinness (KWPN), a son of the legendary Nabab de Rêve (BWP), both 1.60m sj horses.
Guinness is currently competing at grand prix level with Belgian rider Gudrun Patteet. On the dam side we see Cougar (ISH), a son of the Irish showjumping phenomenon Cruising (ISH) who competed at 1.60m sj for Ireland under Trevor Coyle.
In the 3rd generation we find the thoroughbred stallion Able Albert (TB) which gives the line stamina. Finally, in the 4th generation we have the registered Irish draught stallion Western Pride (RID), giving bone and temperament to the line.

2nd Dam – bred Sunny Bill Cruise – FEI ** sj. Currently competing in Italy 1.35m sj level.

Please note we will need you to confirm the following:
1: The date you require the semen dose for.
2: Provide the mare details to the stud.
3: To pre-pay for the semen dose. You can pay online by clicking the ORDER SEMEN button below.
4: Collect the semen dose from the stud on the agreed date.
Horse Trading Stable
Through our trading stable we offer sport horses for sale. This platform gives our customers an opportunity to purchase one of our Ballaghafadda House Stud homebred horses. Depending on the time of year we can sell our customers foals, young stock, broodmares, stallions, and riding horses.
Please contact Barry to discuss your requirements and if he does not have something in stock to meet your requirements, he will work to source a horse for you from a reputable Irish Sport Horse breeder or internationally.
